š Issue #68 - LivingOS as your Oasis for Life
How many times have you reached your goal but still not felt happy?
š Hi! Iām Charlene Wang. IĀ can make your life a little betterĀ with coaching and community. IāmĀ writing aĀ bookĀ to break the model minority stereotype.Ā LivingOS NewsletterĀ is my musings on transitions in life. Grateful to have you. (Shout out to new friends from WIP ā¤ļø)
I Will Be Happy WhenĀ
Growing up, I was eager to figure everything out. I attended an Ivy League school, started a software company in my freshman year, and got a shiny job at a tech giant before 20. I used to tell myself that I would be happy when I achieved that. It took me a decade to realize that there was no way to acquire happiness.
I was so obsessed with setting goals that I blindly chased the wrong things. I thought I would be happy when I got more money, freedom, or love. Philosopher Srikumar Rao called this āthe broken if/then mental modelā programmed in our DNA.
How many times have you reached your goal but still not felt happy?
Revisiting HappinessĀ
Invest in the process: If you attach happiness to a specific outcome, you have prepared yourself for a miserable life. Instead of anchoring happiness on wealth or status, I now see happiness as showing up in a way that feels true to myself.Ā
Focus on the present: Instead of mourning over the past or stressing about the future, try to focus on the present. Life is a lot more fun when you believe that happiness can be found right here, right now.
Create values for others: We all like to be part of something larger than ourselves and bring something beautiful to the world. This is why I created LivingOS.
LivingOS as your Oasis for Life
I started LivingOS to figure out the big question, āWhat does it mean to live a good life?ā
While Iāve got more questions than answers, I now know one thing for sure: LivingOS is going to change millions of lives. Whenever you feel lost about navigating the next big thing in life, we are here for you.Ā
Two months ago, we asked you how LivingOS made you feel. You saidā¦

Why? We are the oasis in your lifeās desert. No matter where you are, there is a place called LivingOS for you to get clarity from the three core offeringsāthe LivingOS newsletter, community, and podcast.Ā
As for the next steps, Iām going to condense the 200+ essays into a dozen long-form essays. Meanwhile, Iād love to hear from you.
